Summary: Lemmix game (lemmings clone) - mouse pointer no longer works properly Product: Wine Version: 1.3.21 Platform: x86-64 URL: http://www.ericenzwaan.nl/eric/lemmings/lemmix.htm OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk
This lemmings clone used to work very well in Wine. Now the mouse pointer is unusable in almost all the levels. It does not even work on the second level of "Fun".
I don't know which version of Wine it used to work in. Regression?

--- Comment #1 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-06-05 13:19:31 CDT --- Also having similar problems with the mouse in the Ballistic/Paddle game - the mouse appears and disappears, making it unplayable:

Instead of creating a separate bug report about the same issue, I think it's sensible to report this mouse issue on this game as well as Lemmix.
Both games worked fine in an older version of Wine. I have e-mailed CodeWeavers several times asking if Wine and CrossOver could allow certain programs to run under older versions of Wine when regressions occur.

I can't reproduce this, it works fine here.
Almost fixed - the mouse pointer is now working in the levels - but if you have to quit a level e.g. you "nuke" all the lemmings lol, at the bottom of the next screen it says that you can use the left mouse button to retry the level or the right mouse button to return to the menu, but sometimes clicking the left or right mouse button here does nothing. It doesn't always do this, but sometimes it does. If you play this for long enough you may notice this problem occurs; it never occurred when using older versions of Wine.
I'm pleased to say this game otherwise works brilliantly in Wine. Thank you for your hard work. :)

UPDATE.
This is tricky to describe and odd, but I've reproduced it again just now...
About pressing the "left" and "right" mouse buttons: between levels you get them same options. I find after completing 3 levels in a row and you want to proceed to the 4th level by pressing the "left" mouse button, you can't click on either left or right mouse buttons. But if you come out of Lemmix (in Ubuntu, by holding CTRL then pressing Tab), then go back into Lemmix, the mouse buttons work again.
Strange!

--- Comment #6 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-07-23 11:47:23 CDT --- ANOTHER WAY TO REPRODUCE THIS:
The left and right mouse buttons can stop working - after a level - if you do this: During gameplay, pressing spacebar on the keyboard a few times will effectively "fast forward" a level to complete it much quicker - but then the mouse buttons can stop working...
If you successfully finish a level, the bottom of the screen says to use the left and right mouse buttons; pressing the left mouse button proceeds to the next level, the right mouse button quits to the main menu. It is here that the mouse buttons can stop working, unless you hold <CTRL> and press <Tab> key to come out of Lemmix and then switch back to Lemmix.

--- Comment #7 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-07-24 17:29:59 CDT --- The title of this bug is wrong. The mouse pointer does work in the game - it did stop working for a time then worked again in a newer version of Wine.
The only minor glitch affecting the mouse is the left and right mouse buttons sometimes stop working between levels. But pressing <Alt> and <Tab> fixes this (apologies earlier for saying Ctrl and Tab - it's Alt and Tab).
Should I open a new bug?

I can't confirm. I tried the space-bar trick, nuke tip, but i was always able to use left or rigtt mouse button upon level completion. Tested and works under: * 1.3.21, 1.3.25
I filled up bug 27915 for crash under 1.3.25-99-g093547e.

--- Comment #9 from David turbolad995@hotmail.co.uk 2011-07-30 06:22:04 CDT --- It looks like this problem is now fixed. :)
I have Wine 1.3.25 installed and I can't reproduce this problem anymore. Thanks for your hard work.

I can't reproduce the mouse problems anymore. It may happen very rarely now, but I've played 20 levels and not had any problems with the mouse.
