Summary: -> Reward 10$ <- Blurry textures in Quake4 Product: Wine Version: 1.1.22 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: wylda@volny.cz
Created an attachment (id=21440) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21440) Blurry textures in wine
Hi,
i noticed, that graphics quality in Quake4 under wine is not as good as under WinXP even if both set to 1920x1200 @ Ultra quality. Quake4 under WinXP has much better looking textures - see attachment.
Anyone who fix this can ask me for 10$. For real, no bullshit... I know, i know not so much but better than nothing :-)

--- Comment #2 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2009-05-31 05:24:23 --- I think you'll find that people might consider $10 to fix a bug offensive, people would rather fix things for their own reasons. If you like Wine consider donating via the main page instead.

Hi Jeff, maybe you are right. Maybe people in US & EU are too lazy to pickup $10 bill from ground. For me $10 is a lot.
Maybe there are other offensive things for wine developers like: * I bought legal WinXP * I buy games for MS Windows * I rather spend my money for my wife and my 8month son then for Wine developers * I rather spend my money for fight with my cancer then for Wine developers * I don not care about zillon possible bug reports in wine. I'm selfishly interested in Bug #18707.
Anyway. I _do_ support wine - i have Crossover Pro with 2years subscription.
From my point of view global donations does not help much. See Office2007
installer - broken for months.
Sorry goes to all wine developers who were pissed off by too low $10 offer. Don't get disgusted, keep working on please. I can't offer more (reboot to WinXP is cheeper, sorry:(

Hi,
i did a test with setting quality to ultra and then running "wine Quake4.exe &> ultra_quality.log". After that i did the same for lowest quality, but when i compare console logs, they are the same. Only difference are hex numbers in following line:
fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x19ea08,0x1a43d0): stub
I think that image quality inside Quake4 is the same in Ultra like in lowest quality. Looks like Quake4 ignores the System setting.

--- Comment #7 from Roderick Colenbrander thunderbird2k@gmail.com 2009-06-10 15:44:12 --- Quake4 uses opengl and for opengl we aren't doing much emulation. I think that on Windows your display drivers are applying some effects to make textures look better e.g. aniso filtering or whatever. In case of nvidia you can see on windows what effects are applied. Also check what the Linux version of quake4 does. It is very unlikely that this is a Wine bug.
