As reported at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=5781&iT..., the Text Tool, Callout Tool, and Option menu items do not function properly in SnagIt 8.2.3, in spite of nearly flawless performance otherwise. This may be related to the Gecko-rendering engine.

Yes. The 30-day trial and the purchased program are functionally identical. The only thing you're purchasing, when you make the purchase, is a serial number that keeps the trial working and turns off the nag screen. So, somebody with Wine experience could easily use the 30-day trial to troubleshoot this bug.

I filed bug 33502 for that problem. Use "regedit" and remove the incomplete printer entry or add "Port" key/value to get the app further.

The text tool issue is an RichEdit control insufficiency, it has nothing to do with Wine-Gecko.
* capture screenshot * 'Capture SnagIt Preview' -> 'Paint Tools' -> click 'Text tool' and drop the box onto the screenshot work area * editor opens 'edit text'. type text. 'Ok' -> text not displayed

'winetricks -q riched20' works around.
That's likely bug 6254. In that case you might select a problem which is not a RichEdit control bug to avoid duplication.
In general please don't put multiple issues into one bug report. Focus on one problem.
Waiting for OP to describe how to exactly reproduce the other two problems:
* Callout Tool * Option menu
After that it can be decided what to do with this messy bug report.
