This version of Wine is PlayOnLinux-related, it is known to work since several months. PlayOnLinux embeds Wine/Wineprefix in environment specific to launch the game without problems. He worked for me for a long time, until the patch came...
I'm unable to try it with 1.7.1, since it requires a new version of AdobeAir: "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which can not be found. Download the latest version of runtime at http://%5Badobeair_download_url]".
I tried last and older versios of AdobeAir... same.
Using the last version seems to create another problem...

--- Comment #10 from Grippier ty114@scarletmail.rutgers.edu --- I used to get this bug, but after removing and reinstalling League of Legends multiple times, I found that by switching from WINDOWED mode to BORDERLESS mode in the league of legends menu (only when playing the first game after reinstall), will the bug stop. I don't know why.
My Operating System is 13.10 (UBUNTU).

--- Comment #11 from Someone scrimekiler@yahoo.fr --- The same thing is happening with wine 1.7.17 and last update (4.6.14 the 22/04/14) I tried to disable audio but it didn't help.
What is happening is exactly this :
"Since last patch starting a game (of any type) will cause the program to crash after the champion selection countdown.
Restarting the game and attempting to reconnect will also result in a crash.
The game was running perfectly before their last update."

--- Comment #12 from Someone scrimekiler@yahoo.fr --- Their next patch solved my problem... I saw the exact same bug I had on youtube from windows 7 users, so hard to tell if it comes from wine or not...
This is the exact same bug I had : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pRiFZ2z9d8

--- Comment #13 from Jarkko K jarkko_korpi@hotmail.com --- The report is about lol version, which cant be played anymore?? Also the reported wine version is old now. Because we use 1.6.x as stable and 1.7.18 as development version.
Someone said:
"Since last patch starting a game (of any type) will cause the program to crash after the champion selection countdown.
If that's your problem now, we should close this bug, because there is already open a bug about that.

--- Comment #14 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
since the bug was reported against an old LoL 3.11 version it's not useful to recycle this further for different issues.
Also Wine wrappers like PoL are _not_ supported here.
