Summary: Ikea home planer 2D and 3D graphical views show only garbage Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC URL: http://www.ikea.com/ms/de_DE/rooms_ideas/splashplanners. html OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: wine@zorglub.s.bawue.de

Hello,
the actual version of Wine is 1.0-rc5 but it's not listed yet.
This bug is related to test http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11720&i...
There is not much to add to what I've written there actually, so copy&paste: Application installs and starts, but all graphical views are completely garbled (2D and 3D, like a TV without channel), the menus and icons seem to work and do something but I can't see anything.
# Graphical configuration Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Corporation 82Q963/Q965 Integrated Graphics Controller" Driver "intel" BusID "PCI:0:2:0" EndSection

I also attach my .xsession-errors (the part related to when the Ikea program was running.
Let me know if you need more.
Thanks, Eric

If you have a nvidia card, everything is fine.

--- Comment #2 from Eric L. wine@zorglub.s.bawue.de 2008-06-16 13:31:22 --- Hi,
I can believe that it has something to do with my graphical configuration (but then Wine should complain about it), but it doesn't to be only XComposite missing: I've checked about intel and XComposite, and I think that Ubuntu switches XComposite on by default. Nevertheless I've added a Extensions/Composite section and the result is that composite seems to be there: # xdpyinfo [...] number of extensions: 33 BIG-REQUESTS Composite DAMAGE DOUBLE-BUFFER DPMS Extended-Visual-Information GLX MIT-SCREEN-SAVER MIT-SHM MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD RANDR RECORD RENDER SECURITY SGI-GLX SHAPE SYNC TOG-CUP X-Resource XAccessControlExtension XC-APPGROUP XC-MISC XFIXES XFree86-Bigfont XFree86-DGA XFree86-DRI XFree86-Misc XFree86-VidModeExtension XINERAMA XInputExtension XKEYBOARD XTEST XVideo [...]
Thanks anyway, any further hints are much appreciated, Eric

--- Comment #3 from Raphael Jacquot sxpert@sxpert.org 2008-08-03 00:14:04 --- ok. I have the same issue on a G33 based intel board. well, not exactly. now the views are all black and some things appear, like the cabinet numbers in the 2D view and the transient positioning drawings still, this renders the app un-useable.

--- Comment #5 from Eric L. wine@zorglub.s.bawue.de 2008-08-03 05:35:05 --- Hi,
I looked at the bug 2398 and it states that "Applications that remain to suffer from issues like this, should be handled in application specific bugs because it isn't a generic issue anymore.", which I did, so it should be fine :-)
Then it's also stated that "recent versions of the opensource intel drivers should work too", so I think I'm fine as well from this aspect (but let me know).
And last but not least, it states "Applications that are still having issues likely aren't cases of this generic bug. They are likely triggering bugs in e.g. DirectDraw/Direct3D or they are using some strange rendering method." So please let me know how I can test this (i.e. if the planner is using a strange rendering method, or if it's triggering a DirectSomething bug).
Thanks, Eric

--- Comment #11 from Edward d'Auvergne true.bugman@gmail.com 2011-12-17 13:55:05 CST --- I can confirm that the 2D view is still black in wine-1.3.34 (for the 2010 version of the home planner). The 3D view is fine, but the 2D views are black. You can drag objects onto the black space, and these are visible. Shifting them results in visual artefacts whereby there is a picture of the object in the original position and in the new. Forcing a screen refresh by minimising and maximising causes the objects to be drawn properly, though the black is still everywhere (this appears to require desktop 3D effects turned on to refresh).

--- Comment #14 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello Austin,
the first hits in search engines still give valid downloads, albeit third-parties. The app makes use of DIB/OpenGL and the problem is still present with recent Wine.
Just resize the main app window for reproducing. The workspace/client area (DIB/OpenGL) contains random artefacts from other client areas (DIBs), new content is not shown after gl flush.

--- Comment #15 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Does this bug still occur in current wine(3.21)?
I do not understand the original bug....
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13925
--- Comment #16 from Edward d'Auvergne true.bugman@gmail.com --- Compiling and checking now ... and the issues are still there. I no longer see all black in 2D view (as it was in at least wine 2.0.5). But the drawing issue is there and changing the window size makes lots of pretty colours and shapes.
It looks like this old software can still be downloaded from https://www.ikea.com/ms/en_CN/rooms_ideas/splashplanners.html. If needed, I have kept my original installation file as well (for the off chance that someone would like to use it for debugging). To test, just install, run it, and resize the main window.
