Bug #: 29493 Summary: Drone exits when not in virtual desktop mode, No matching mode found 320x200x8 Product: Wine Version: 1.3.35 Platform: x86-64 URL: http://www.fileplanet.com/42878/40000/fileinfo/Drone-v 1.01 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: markk@clara.co.uk Classification: Unclassified
This bug applies to the game Drone by Pixelsplash software.
Drone was published on at least two CD-ROMs by eGames (Arcade Master and Master's Series 151), but was also available from the developer. Direct download
http://web.archive.org/web/20030414104125/http://www.pixelsplash.com/drone1/... The demo can also be downloaded from http://www.fileplanet.com/42878/40000/fileinfo/Drone-v1.01
The game tries to use 320x200 full-screen mode. With Wine in Virtual Desktop mode, the game runs in a 320x200-pixel window. However, if Wine is *not* in virtual desktop mode, it fails saying err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 320x200x8 @0! (XRandR)
According to xrandr, the lowest available resolution is 320x240 (on my system with Nvidia driver version 96).
It would be good if Wine could, when a program tries to use a resolution lower than the lowest available, use the lowest available resolution and centre the image in that. So in this case, Wine would set the screen resolution to 320x240 and display the game in the middle 200 lines.

Invalid. Use desktop mode for this kind of workarounds, or configure your X server.
