Using Ubuntu 10.04 Installation seems to go fine. When running Final Fantasy 8, however, the first Eidos movie bit is extremely choppy. Terminal log attached.

Which FF8 are you using? The version as distributed on CD, or the 1.2 patch sets?

--- Comment #5 from Kurt kurtjaeke@gmx.de 2010-10-10 06:08:48 CDT --- Well, wine isn't windows on a P2. Emulation layers always consume extra CPU. I was happy I could play Jagged Alliance 2 on my laptop. CPU was at 100% with wine, though, and JA2 is the same era as FF8.
