Summary: Cobra 11 Nitro: No video and music at game startup Product: Wine Version: 1.1.13 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: lukaschmela@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=18784) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18784) Screenshot from the game's startup on Wine
On Windows, the game plays a short cinematic show. Then it loads menus and in the background there are drown video shows from the game with a music from included music manager.
Wine does nothing from the three actions I described above. The game loads menus immediately after startup, in background there is a red cross and no music is playing.

--- Comment #3 from Lukáš Chmela lukaschmela@gmail.com 2009-07-22 05:39:18 --- yes, this is still an issue with wine 1.1.26, except the output from console during startup has slightly changed.

--- Comment #11 from Lukáš Chmela lukaschmela@gmail.com 2010-07-26 09:02:11 --- Well, I reinstalled graphics driver, glx now seems to be ok.
However, the problem with video playback still persists. Sounds do play when I move mouse over a button, but the video playback in behind, nor in the splash at the game startup is working.

--- Comment #14 from Lukáš Chmela lukaschmela@gmail.com 2011-08-02 08:51:32 CDT --- Yes, I can confirm that this bug is still present in Wine 1.3.25 from Ubuntu-wine PPA.
In this build, however, I am not able to play any sound outside the winecfg utility so I am reverting back to wine 1.2.3 from the same PPA until a new version is available or until the sound issue gets fixed.
I have to mention that on the startup of the game, a "The program has encountered a serious problem and needs to be closed..." window has popped up but after clicking Close, the game is normally playable (except it doesn't emit any sound). At the end, when I click "Quit" in the game menu, it gets stuck with the following line in terminal:
fixme:amstream:IAMMultiMediaStreamImpl_SetState (0x290c5f0/0x290c5f0)->() stub!
..and I have to kill the process.

--- Comment #17 from Lukáš Chmela lukaschmela@gmail.com 2011-08-02 09:26:35 CDT --- Yes, this is demo of exactly the same game.
It shows the problem with both, wine 1.2.3 and 1.3.25, except with 1.2.3 it doesn't pop up the "Program error" window and it exits normally (and sounds work well), with 1.3.25 it gets stuck after clicking "English" in the language selection available at the first run. Also, over the red cross on the background, there is written "Video '_2x' nicht gefunden."

--- Comment #19 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2011-08-02 09:37:12 CDT --- Ok the bug is caused by AMSTREAM not implemented (see the tons of bugs caused by this).
Only Christian Costa worked in this dll. So don't expect this bug solved soon. To avoid the crash, you can use a native amstream dll if you own a valid windows licence. Then, in a console, regsvr32 amstream.
Sound and videos will not show, but at least, it avoids the crash.
Indeed, to use amstream, some work is also needed in ddraw dll.

After next start, when the language has been already set, the game was playable (printing out many shader regarded error messages, so I only started the game and then closed it) and showed the same message in the background as it is shown in the attached screenshot from the first run. It behaved the same way as the full version game, popping up the Program error window and stucking at the end when exiting (I had to terminate it, you can see the ^C in the output - second line from below)

that means you dont use the native amstream dll to use it, (after regsvr32 amstream) cd to the repertory of the game, then WINEDLLOVERRIDES="amstream=n" wine foo.exe
where foo.exe is the name of the executable to start the game.
Anyway, can you change the component of the game from unknown to amstream?

--- Comment #26 from Jarkko K jarkko_korpi@hotmail.com --- I cant see any starting video, also cant hear any music, but I do hear some click while browsing menus, or car's engine sound while playing.
The demo crashes when quit (not always).
wine 1.7.18
It feels that the menus are missing some pictures, but I don't know how the demo would look on native windows. So I am just assuming that.
