Summary: Every Extend music does not play. Product: Wine Version: 0.9.48. Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P4 Component: wine-multimedia AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: febaen@gmail.com
When starting Every Extend in Wine, three windows pop up (one after another), giving the same MCI error, accompanied in the terminal by "fixme:mci:MCI_LoadMciDriver Couldn't load driver for type L"MPEGVIDEO"." errors. It also has a small "No Device" window that stays open the entire time the program is open, which is blank as far as I can see, which the error box makes me think is connected to the problem.

--- Comment #1 from Phillip Batista febaen@gmail.com 2007-11-07 14:23:38 --- The full message of the error is
fixme:mci:MCI_LoadMciDriver Couldn't load driver for type L"MPEGVIDEO". If you don't have a windows installation accessible from Wine, you perhaps forgot to create a [mci] section in system.ini
I tried making a duplicate in the [mci] of "MPEGVideo" as "MPEGVIDEO", with no change. I have also tried changing the name of the music files, so it cannot access them, and still get the error. Reading a few of the guides on submitting bugs, I tried to run it with WINEDEBUG=+relay, but the game would not run.
This is the first bug I've submitted, so please feel free to email me any advice/things I did wrong so I don't make that mistake in the future. I'm x86, running Ubuntu 7.10, but I was unsure if the hardware/OS on the submission form meant it only applied to those, so I left them blank.

--- Comment #5 from Jörg Höhle hoehle@users.sourceforge.net 2010-09-15 17:37:31 CDT --- This is a bug in built-in quartz - please set that component It does not manage to parse the MP3 files bgm/*.mp3: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo
This is likely related to every other Wine MP3 bug about fixme:quartz:parse_header Not a valid header: 12:3e
Try a work-around: WINEDLLOVERRIDES='d3dxof,quartz,devenum=n' wine sgx2.exe
With a native quartz, the MCI shell more or less plays these .mp3 files.
Probably bug #23821 is a dupe of this one, and bug #22720 too. Use WINEDLLOVERRIDES='quartz, devenum=n' wine there. Please check.

--- Comment #7 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2010-11-13 02:54:04 CST --- Since Wine-1.3.6 I can't see those quartz related messages about the invalid headers. The game starts correctly and is playing the sounds/music fine. This was the result while testing the game in Wine-1.3.7. Can anyone give it another try with Wine-1.3.7 (or newer)?

--- Comment #8 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2010-11-15 10:36:16 CST --- I must rectify myself. The game only works flawlessly if you have gstreamer support compiled-in and the necessary plugins are installed. Without the plugins or with disabled winegstreamer.dll the game still throws those millions of fixmes about the invalid header and finally it crashes.
