--- Comment #1 from Hew hewus.owns@gmail.com 2008-07-14 08:39:16 --- Thanks for your report. This sounds to me like a window manager issue. Make sure Compiz is disabled, as always. Try changing the graphics settings in winecfg, specifically trying the virtual desktop option.
I'll mention here for the report that you said you are having the problem with Gentoo, whereas with Xubuntu you did not have this issue.

--- Comment #2 from Sergio sergio.jorde@gmail.com 2008-07-14 09:33:46 --- Yes, you right, it only happens in gentoo, but not in xubuntu (same machine, different hd), but I didn't mentioned it because according with other comments, it happens in more than one distribution. But just for the record, I should say it.
I can confirm almost without any doubt that it is not a bug related with any wm. In gentoo, in order to gain some fps I launch the game in a different X session using this script:
#!/bin/bash export GW_PATH = ~/".wine/drive_c/Archivos de programa/Guild Wars/" X :3 -ac -terminate & cd "${GW_PATH}" sleep 2 DISPLAY=:3 wine Gw.exe
No windows manager. If I launch it in KDE it happens too. And of course, no compiz or something with composite.
