Bug ID: 42186 Summary: Uplay games don't work anymore since latest update Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Mac OS X Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: crypt32 Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: paulthetall@gmail.com
Created attachment 56814 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=56814 Uplay issue output
Hey Guys, Since the latest Uplay update of 15 December the games won't launch anymore. Uplay does login and download and install goes fine as well. But if you play a game it starts the intro of the game but exits back to uplay.
I tested with Anno2070 and Rayman Legend, both worked fine before but since latest version of Uplay they have the same issue.
I attached the log.

This looks suspicious but I am not sure:
err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.
I am not sure if this applies to Macs but Samba should have the winbind package required to make this error go away...

No this is in almost all outputs. I expect something in winsock and or Crypt32. If I delete the Crypt32.dll in winecfg...then Uplay Doesn't login anymore so, I need to have it native in there. It looks like something as a security check or something, and that it doenst pass and then quits the game or something. I don't know... I love to see it fixed, because no Uplay game will launch anymore which require Uplay login...

Hmmm. Can you try Wine Staging? There's a bug about Uplay not being able to connect/log on: 41652

--- Comment #5 from Paul The Tall paulthetall@gmail.com --- This is already done. and as i said, I can login into Uplay and download and install but when I launch games it crashes back to the uplay App, so this is different.

I haven't seen one single application so far that got fixed installing winbind. I don't have it installed and it's common error.

Well I just tried uplay game and it started, but it had some other issue in gameplay. Are you aware that there are uplay bugs that need wine-staging version of wine or self compiled wine with the patches?
To my understanding it's not possible to use pure/vanila wine with uplay.
Also windows version could make a difference.

Is this really an issue with more recent wine-staging (2.8 latest release). Uplay should work just fine with staging.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42186
--- Comment #10 from Paul The Tall paulthetall@gmail.com --- I just checked, and you are right, with 2.8 staging it works again. Checked one game (flashback) which didn't work before. However I have to say, That there are 2 more things not working properly but no show stopper:
1. Because winhttp cannot be native, it takes ages before the installing starts. Its initializing ages (about 5 minutes) 2. Loading in the games icons in the "games" tab.

--- Comment #11 from Paul The Tall paulthetall@gmail.com --- I will make a new bug with those issues.

Since this bug was opened against wine-staging it can be solved as fixed. I just don't understand what fixed this issue.
