oprofile report
shows IWineD3DVertexBufferImpl_PreLoad taking 67% of cputime
That report doesn't include the loading of the level, right? What does opannotate --source look like for wined3d?

Right, I started the profile after the level had loaded and the main part starts with the top down view. I discarded my previous profile session, so I've profiled it again for 25 seconds or so.

--- Comment #5 from Alex Stanev alex@stanev.org 2009-01-04 04:41:11 --- When the game starts, the main menu animation looks with normal speed. When you load level and after that return to main menu, it becomes slow too.

--- Comment #6 from H. Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com 2009-01-08 09:32:47 --- Some patches to add support for EXT_vertex_array_bgra went in today. If you've got drivers that support that extension (180.18 beta drivers for nvidia), it might speed things up a bit.

--- Comment #7 from Alex Stanev alex@stanev.org 2009-01-18 02:33:40 --- I can confirm the game works with reasonable speed under wine 1.1.13 and nvidia driver 180.11. The CPU usage is still high.

--- Comment #8 from Alex Stanev alex@stanev.org 2009-07-14 12:49:22 --- The game runs in reasonable speed but minimizing in makes it slow again, will open separate bug on that one.
