The (3MB) help file of Age of Empires (1, base version) appears entirely white in winhlp32. However, resizing the window creates refreshes which show that on the left side, part of a (roman?) column is shortly drawn, before the whole window is whitened again. The text that should be on the right side never becomes visible.
Should I attach such a huge file here?
The .hlp file makes reference to at least one .dll supplied by the game. That is not needed to test for the bug (MS-Windows' winhlp32 will complain yet nevertheless display file contents without them).
I've tried this file in a Gecko-enabled wine as well, it made no difference.

All downloads I tried were missing (how to reproduce?). Also the last time this was somehow tested was 2011.

Download the demo and install, inside the game folder there is the file EMPIRES.HLP.
wine winhlp32 EMPIRES.HLP to open it and the screen will be empty instead of showing the help.

Some links dont seem to open at all. But if you search the help file via index/inventory and pick some content, it opens the content correctly on the right side of the help file.
This is so close to work correctly.

I have added screenshots to compare with Windows, Jean-Christophe, do you have any idea of what could be wrong or can you take a deeper look into this please?
To reproduce just download the game demo and install and them browse to the folder and try to open EMPIRES.HLP with winhlp32.

Furthermore some types of hotspots are not implemented (e.g. the 4 links BACK, PRINT... at the top). On the other side the EM_CHARFROMPOS message returns the char *closest* to the mouse pointer, which means that for a large image (e.g. the one with the 2 rows of links Overview...) when the mouse is farther than the middle of the picture, it returns the position next to the picture (instead of the expected-by-the-code position of the picture itself): I managed to have the links working on this picture, but only for the left-most half :p Conclusion: I should be able to enhance this somewhat, but this won't be very soon as I said before, maybe during this summer.
