When trying to run a program, "Halo Editing Kit", Yes this is critical that i
have this working very soon, It doesn't load at all. When i run it in terminal
i get some erors. You can find the error on your forums

direct x components (i think) and have the C++ 2005 Red. installed.

Attach complete terminal output as a text file when running your program.
How did you installed it?
No it's not critical, read definition of the severity levels.

Attached Terminal text to bug report.

I have not installed it yet, i'm trying to run the installer. If your talking
about wine, i ran apt-get install wine. I'm pretty sure,(99.9%) sure that i
installed wine correctly.

Are you running this from a windows partition?

I can't install it.. Thats the thing.. It won't "Load". I realized a few days
ago (sorry for not adding this) that the startup.exe is a loader for the
install program that is in the above package.. Thats the reason why i didn't
include a startup.exe

It won't load at all! Thats the thing.. "Halo editing kit won't load".

Sorry for the frustration, I've tried reformating, getting a new hardrive, and
even using a different computer. Cedega also fails, I haven't bought the latest
version because personally i like wine better.

Please give exact steps to reproduce what you see, starting with a fresh
~/.wine, and using the same .7z file you uploaded.

Halo Editing Kit installer output

I'm confirming an install problem with today's Git (wine-1.1.7-169-g4707548).
After attempting to initiate the install, a dialog box pops up with a path
("C:\maps\mainmenu.map" in my case), then the install fails. Output is
attached.

No update from OP for four years. Is this still an issue in 1.5.4 or should

I managed to get it working awhile back but totally forgot about creating this
bug report 4 years ago. I'm unsure if this is still a problem or not. You can
download the halo editing kit installer from the link located below.

you can fake the install without Halo CE game installed.

Add following key/value ("Exe Path" should point to some existing folder):

Download update from http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=3816 and unzip
binaries into "Exe Path"

Installer succeeds.
For the editors/tools to start you need "ogg.dll", "vorbis.dll" and
"vorbisfile.dll". Fetch them from whatever sites.

There is nothing to fix here.

$ wine --version
wine-1.5.4-170-g8933d91
