Created an attachment (id=18659) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18659) wine error's
I am running the AM64 version of Ubuntu 8.10 with the 180.22 Nvidia drivers. After I installed wine there was a 30 second delay before I had access to the wine configuration window. The same thing happened when I tried to start Warcraft III, but after the delay Warcraft III stopped loading. The full error is in the attachment. Just a note, I did get the same libgl.so.1 error as when I was installing the Nvidia drivers.

--- Comment #1 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2009-01-12 19:28:36 --- I cannot reproduce this with Wine 1.1.12 on Debian sid/ia32 with nVidia 180.22 driver.

--- Comment #2 from Paul Weiss interweiss@yahoo.ca 2009-01-12 20:11:28 --- Yes, because it is an AMD64 bug.

--- Comment #3 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2009-01-12 20:23:16 --- If it does only occur with AMD64, it's almost certainly not a problem with wine (unless it happens in win64 code).
I can also not reproduce with Wine 1.1.12 on Debian sid/amd64 with nVidia 177.80 driver.

--- Comment #4 from Paul Weiss interweiss@yahoo.ca 2009-01-12 20:43:09 --- This has been fixed by downgrading to the 177.82 driver.

--- Comment #6 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2009-01-12 21:05:43 --- it's not "fixed" unless a bug in Wine is fixed by change that has been committed.

--- Comment #7 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2009-01-12 21:25:59 --- It's "INVALID" if it's a bug in something external to Wine. I just upgraded to 180.22 and I'm not noticing any delays in starting Wine or winecfg. Perhaps this is related to a specific graphics card too? My specs: - Linux 2.6.27 (vanilla, self-compiled) - Debian sid/amd64, self-compiled wine 1.1.12 - Phenom x4 9750 - Geforce 9600GT

--- Comment #8 from Paul Weiss interweiss@yahoo.ca 2009-01-12 22:22:16 --- I upgraded to 180.22 from 177.82 and now wine is running correctly, even with this version. I think that you can only get this bug if you install 180.22 after a fresh Ubuntu install. Every time I installed 180.22 after a fresh Ubuntu install, the Nvidia driver gave me an error about libgl.so.1. If I installed 180.22 over 180.22, oddly enough I wouldn't get this error. Yet with both cases, wine was not working properly. It seems that 177.82 properly installed all of the components and links that 180.22 could use afterwards. So in the end, this is an NVIDIA bug.

--- Comment #9 from Ben Klein shacklein@gmail.com 2009-01-12 22:58:31 --- Not that it matters, but it seems to me like more of a packaging bug. I'd suggest you file a bug with Ubuntu.
