I originally was replacing the msvcrt.dll in usr/lib... and thought for a while this fix did not work. I am just in my first few days using linux which is why I am making all sorts of funny mistakes.
To be clear, I read that some users who use the msvcrt.dll off a windows partition still get the same error. But if they download it from here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcrt. (which I did) it fixes the problem.
