I noticed this in MS word 2007.
When i print all pages then the printing is carried out normally. 
If i select specific pages to print then it fails.

eg:
<Ribbon> -> Print -> Print. On the Page Range groupbox:
- if "all" is selected then no problem
- if "Pages" <from_page_to_page> is selected then printing fails.

The printer actually prints something, which i describe below:
There are two lines
- The first line is only half-printed, so i can only make out the bottom half
of the letters. I think it says: "%%Pages. 0" (without the quotes)

- The second line says: "%%EOF" (without the quotes)

Where on the ribbon are you finding print? On my install it's a menu item
accessed from the Office button, and it can also be added to the quick access
toolbar. Either way, I can't reproduce this. Printing ranges works fine here.

What happens when you try to print a range of pages in notepad?

Sorry, i thought the button on the top left was called ribbon. I meant the
"Office button".

Tried notepad and it seems to work fine, except for the fact that it shows
"Page &p" instead of (for example) "Page 5". This happens on all pages.

I get the '&p" in notepad, too. That's a bug, but has nothing to do with your
problem.

Regarding Word 2007: was this a clean install of Office (no winetricks or other
tweaks, nothing else installed to that wineprefix)? If not, install to a clean
wineprefix and test printing a range of pages.

Just did a clean install on wine 1.2rc2. Nothing else touched this particular
wine prefix. Same problem occurs.

Somehow I didn't see this when it was posted and this is why i didn't respond
in time. Sorry :/.

Anyway, now that i retested with latest wine, i can print page ranges normally. 
Marking as fixed.
