Bug #: 32154 Summary: Guild Wars 2: Game hangs if the ip address changes Product: Wine Version: 1.5.16 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: sworddragon2@aol.com Classification: Unclassified
My internet provider is disconnecting me every 24 hours and giving me a new ip address. If this happens the game will show me an error that something with my connection is wrong. After clicking on OK the screen will just be black and nothing happens. But sometimes the game will freeze instantly. In this case I don't get any error message. I will see only the last frame which was drawn ingame. In both cases I have to minimize the game with my window manager and kill the process.

Is your computer behind a firewall or directly connected to the internet? In other words the computer IP changes or only the router IP?

Is your computer behind a firewall or directly connected to the internet? In other words the computer IP changes or only the router IP?
The router IP changes.

--- Comment #3 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2012-11-06 22:56:22 CST --- So, how do you know it is a wine bug and not a bug in the application?

--- Comment #4 from sworddragon2@aol.com 2012-11-07 04:11:37 CST --- I have never seen such an error on Windows in all the years before and there is a similar problem on Diablo III with Wine. To go sure we have to wait until somebody checks this on Windows.

The router IP changes.
So the computer IP does not change. I wonder what happens to the router's NAT tables when the IP changes and what would cause the game to hang if the computer IP is not changing.

--- Comment #6 from sworddragon2@aol.com 2012-11-08 16:53:16 CST --- Somebody else tested this on Windows and the bug exists there too. So this is not a bug in Wine.
