Bug ID: 39396 Summary: "Legend of Grimrock 2" editor flickers Product: Wine Version: 1.7.28 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: hans_squared@yahoo.com Distribution: ---
I'm running "Legend of Grimrock 2" (version 2.2.4 from humblebundle.com) under Wine 1.7.28 on openSUSE 13.2 64-bit.
The game itself works perfectly without any changes in Wine's configuration. What doesn't work is the editor that comes with the game.
The editor window is black, and occasionally, the contents it should be displaying are visible for a fraction of a second, i.e. the editor window flickers.
However, the menu bar (File / Edit / Help) is visible and its entries work.
I'm not the only person who's encountered this bug: http://www.grimrock.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7010&start=10#p74...
According to the same poster, the editor works in Wine 1.7.2: http://www.grimrock.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7010&start=20#p78...

So, more detail on this: the editor displays 1 frame, then displays sheer black for a while. While it isn't displaying black, I can click on things, but since it's only one frame I need multiple tries. With no dungeon loaded, it displays a frame every 0.3 seconds or so. With standard assets loaded (new dungeon), it takes about 30 seconds to display a frame. If I make a dungeon that doesn't load standard assets, it manages a frame every 0.5 seconds or so. The size of the window does not affect the delay.
Tried virtual desktop and changing Windows version. Made no difference.
edit: decided to try running the editor in virtualbox, but the game crashes on startup complaining about an attempt to compare number with nil in autoDetectResolution in Config.lua.
edit: So this issue also happens in the original Grimrock, but apparently at least one person was able to use the editor. Time to try screwing around with older versions? https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25737

I got the editor running!
I had no idea what could possibly have been causing the black screen thing, so I just tried running it in all of my different Wine prefixes. First one it worked in was a clean Wine 1.7.2, win32. Windows version doesn't make a difference, no dll overrides. I don't know what I did to my 1.7.28 installation that broke it.
