Bug ID: 48640 Summary: CSS HTML Validator Task Dialog non-functional Product: Wine Version: 5.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: support@htmlvalidator.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 66496 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=66496 The task dialog that you can't click on to select an option/task when running under Wine
Task Dialog is practically non-functional because clicking on a task/option does not do anything.
The Batch Wizard tool in CSS HTML Validator 2020 has a Task Dialog that does not work properly.
From user report running CSS HTML Validator under Wine: The window in the
screenshot opens after clicking the green cross "Add Target" on the toolbar in the Batch Wizard. The window is live, in the sense that I can select any of the three options (the mouse moves the blue rectangle and selects one), but nothing happens when I click an option. I can drag the window around with the mouse -- it isn't frozen, and the Cancel button works, as does the red button at upper right that closes the window.
To reproduce:
1. Download trial version at https://www.htmlvalidator.com/private/css-html-validator-wine-bug-x64-setup....
2. Install and run program.
3. Go to the Batch Wizard (F2).
4. By default, the task dialog is disabled in Wine because it does not operate properly. To force the use of the task dialog (and toolbar which also has issues per another bug report), choose Options->Force Toolbar.
5. Select "Add Target" from the toolbar to display the broken task dialog.

--- Comment #1 from Louis Lenders xerox.xerox2000x@gmail.com --- Confirming, but i checked that it works in Staging so this bugreport is probably a duplicate (?)
Anyone know what patch in Staging "fixes" this?
@OP: Can you also confirm that it works correctly in Staging?

--- Comment #2 from Albert Wiersch support@htmlvalidator.com --- The person helping me with this confirmed that functionality works in Wine 5.3 Staging. The toolbar issue still exists (see https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48633 for toolbar).
However, the rendering is poor. See Wine5.3Staging-task1.png (immediately after clicking the green "Add Target" icon in the toolbar) and Wine5.3Staging-task2.png (the mouse pointer hovering over the "Add URL target" option. No option has been clicked).
More details from person checking this for me:
Good news -- it does work under Wine Staging 5.3, though there is an issue with aesthetics. The "Add file target(s)" option is pre-selected, and that displays poorly. If there were no pre-selected default, it would look and work great. Hovering over a button with the mouse pointer raises a highlight, as intended, though that does not happen for the pre-selected "Add file target(s)" button. Clicking any of the three options, including the pre-selected "Add file target(s)", immediately opens the appropriate dialog. Functionality is great, but looks a bit weird, especially when the "Add what target?" window first opens -- kind of a "What is that?" moment.
If removing the pre-selection from the "Add file target(s)" isn't possible or does not work, maybe remove the green right-pointing arrows and make all three options buttons in the same style as the pre-selected "Add file target(s)" button. Or anything else that makes all three buttons look the same when the window first opens.

--- Comment #5 from Albert Wiersch support@htmlvalidator.com --- Created attachment 66890 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=66890 Slight progress in Wine 5.6 but still very buggy
A screenshot of an email from a customer who tested CSS HTML Validator with Wine 5.5 and Wine 5.6. It shows some slight progress but still a long way to go.
