Summary: Minimize button disappears in some applications Product: Wine Version: 1.1.3 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: peter.talken@telia.com
When I start some of my applications I normally have a minimize button up to the right. If I use it once and the maximize the window this minimize button has disappeared and the minimize entry in the drop down list is grayed out. In some it works OK.

--- Comment #3 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-08-26 19:02:20 --- Can you try Gnome and see if you have the same problem?

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-08-26 20:14:12 --- Any downloadable programs showing this?

--- Comment #5 from Peter Landgren peter.talken@telia.com 2008-08-27 08:21:51 --- I do not have Gnome installed. But I happened to have icewm installed and with that the minimize button works.
Sorry, none of the programs with this behavior are downloadable.
Can I run wine with some sort of debugger to supply more information.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-02-26 11:21:32 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.15 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #7 from Peter Landgren peter.talken@telia.com 2009-02-26 12:50:46 --- Yes. It's still the same behavior with the latest version of wine (1.1.15)

--- Comment #8 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-08-26 13:16:56 --- Is this still present in current (1.1.28 or newer) wine?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14948
--- Comment #9 from Peter Landgren peter.talken@telia.com 2009-08-26 15:20:14 --- Tested with 1.1.28 today, and the problems are still there. All kinds of strange effects occur. Hard to describe. I shall check if I can supply a demo version om the program with a dummy database.

--- Comment #10 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-05-26 16:03:18 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 6 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.2-rc1 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #11 from Paul Romanyszyn pgr@arcelectronicsinc.com 2010-05-26 19:17:43 --- See if the patch in Bug 15069 corrects the problem.

--- Comment #12 from Peter Landgren peter.talken@telia.com 2010-05-27 04:53:11 --- I have tried 1.2-rc1, it's better, the minimize button is always there. I still get that mini windows in the middle of the screen. If I right click in its lower part I get a small pop up window down to the left saying: Reset Minimize X Quit Alt-F4 About Wine If I select Reset I get the full window back.
If I right click in the upper part of the mini window and select Maximize, I get just a empty frame. If I then use the minimize button and the click on program again I get a complete working window again. I have to "maximize" twice to get useful window.
When I start from console I get two messages: err:service:validate_service_config Service L"Msis_clbc" has an unknown service type err:service:scmdatabase_load_services Invalid configuration of service L"Msis_clbc" - skipping

--- Comment #14 from Peter Landgren peter.talken@telia.com 2010-05-27 10:45:28 --- 1. As far as I can see, it's a Delphi application.
2. I applied the patch and now it works just fine!
