Summary: keyboard seems to be dead after changing to another field with TAB-key Product: Wine Version: 1.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: lorenz.giefing@utanet.at
Created an attachment (id=30111) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=30111) WINDEBUG=+all
FileMaker Pro 5 If I change to another form-field using the TAB-key, the keyboard is dead, no reaction at all. Mouse acts normal, I can use the menus and copy/paste text anyway. Clicking out of the window and into again (getting focus again) and the keyboard is alive again. There seems to be a pattern depending on the field, some trigger the problem each time I leave them with TAB, some never do.
After reading a lot of bug reports, I tried "virtual desktop" on/off, "allow window manager" on/off, no changes at all. I tried [HKCU\software\Wine\X11 Driver] UseTakeFocus="yes" without changes.
Ubuntu 10.04 Keyboard and mouse via PS2 No SCIM installed.

Is this still an issue in 1.6-rc1 or higher or is this abandoned ?

--- Comment #3 from horst2tappert@yahoo.de 2013-08-24 10:47:48 CDT --- I can confirm this report unfortunately.
Copy & Paste works but nothing else. After changing to another window it also works again for me.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

--- Comment #6 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Is this a regression? AppDB suggests that this "Works great!"
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23978
--- Comment #7 from DonJaime@freenet.de --- "Works great" except for the "can't type after leaving a pop-up list or closing a modal alert box" bug would be more precise. If it's a regression it's very very old. My offer in the duplicate to do a debug trace if told which channels still stands.

--- Comment #8 from super_man@post.com --- The title should be redo to include the application name. Is this still valid issue?
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23978
--- Comment #9 from DonJaime@freenet.de --- There is a more accurate description of the bug with a more accurate title (the TAB key is irrelevant) in Bug 33452. It would have made more sense to mark this bug as a duplicate of that one, but I can't fix that or change the title here. The issue still hasn't been fixed.

--- Comment #10 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
refining summary according to comment #9
Please provide test results using most recent Wine version, preferably Wine 1.7.55 or later. Also provide results of regression test if you think this is a regression.
Regards

--- Comment #11 from DonJaime@freenet.de --- What do you mean by 'test results'? As already reported, it is not possible to enter text by typing after entering a pop-up list, or after FileMaker has shown a modal dialog. No relevant output appears if wine is started from the command line. It is conceivable that this is a regression, but if so it has been there for at least three years. It is still there in version 1.8rc. If you tell me which channels to watch I could compile the damn thing with debug symbols enabled and do a debug trace.

--- Comment #24 from Aaron Franke arnfranke@yahoo.com --- If this issue still exists, please submit test results to FireMaker Pro 5.0's AppDB page. The fact that it is currently Gold rating indicates that it works perfectly with work-arounds. The application should be re-rated Silver, Bronze, or Garbage.
Additionally, someone here who uses the application regularly and knows the application well should volunteer to be a Super Maintainer of the application. There are a massive amount of versions, none of which receive frequent test results, some have not been tested in over 10 years. Perhaps some should be merged (like 5.0 and 5.5) if they behave very similarly.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23978
--- Comment #25 from DonJaime@freenet.de --- Test results submitted, volunteered to be maintainer. Not sure what a 'Super Maintainer' is; you're unlikely to find someone with access to and interest in all FMPro versions.
I see there are quite a lot of bugs involving keyboard input with various applications. Fixing this one might help them as well.
I would be willing to compile wine with debug symbols enabled and do a debug trace if someone can tell me which channels to specify.

--- Comment #26 from DonJaime@freenet.de --- (In reply to Aaron Franke from comment #24) I am now maintainer. Status downgraded to Silver.
