--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-26 14:16:08 --- Confirming then. Does native msthtml help? Try 'winetricks ie6'.

--- Comment #3 from Benny mail2benny@gmail.com 2008-12-28 10:32:04 --- Winetricks ie6 fixes the main window, but destroys other windows (like the startup window or add dictionary window).
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16614
--- Comment #4 from Benny mail2benny@gmail.com 2009-01-03 06:45:07 --- Ok I tested it a little more (on wine version 1.1.12):
It seems only to happen when the client is unregistered (trial mode), if you have a client that is registered (a license is entered) you get the desired window, only the html rendering within the main window fails. (without ie6 from winetricks)
If I install babylon trial mode with ie6 I get a warning this trail version is expired even though it is not (I tried a fresh wineprefix). (ie6 still kills html rendering for the startup window)
So in summation this bug is actually a html rendering bug for a box that says that your version is expired (even though it is not) which is a bug too.
Should I file another bug for that, or keep this bug as the "Babylon 7 instantly expired bug in trial mode" and file a "Babylon 7 html render bug" (which is also a problem ins licensed mode)? Or something else?

I'd file a new bug for that (trial expired). As a guess, try native msxml3 to see if that works around it.

--- Comment #11 from super_man@post.com --- The program is already at version 10. The installer needs winetricks -q ie8. I was able to use this product.
So is this fixed, invalid, abandoned or what?

--- Comment #12 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
it seems older versions of this app are kind of hard to find. I found an old Babylon version 8 here:
http://babylon.software.informer.com/download/?ca1c1c3
Installs fine but when trying to activate via systray icon -> 'open', the main window doesn't show up for me. After "destroying" the prefix with IEx winetricks recipe a window is shown, stating 'trial version expired'.

--- Comment #14 from winetest@luukku.com --- The download leads into version 10.
I don't experience the original issue with this version. But the program is useless in this form, it doesnt give any output while trying to search a word.
winetricks -q ie8 seems to solve this issue but after that The program is unusable, it's rendered incorrectly.
wine 1.9.22.
