Summary: CDex no longer works with WINE after upgrade today Product: Wine Version: 1.3.23 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: iconoclasthero@gmail.com
From my /var/log/apt/term.log:
Log started: 2011-07-07 09:32:56 ... Preparing to replace wine1.3 1.3.22-0ubuntu1~ppa1~maverick1 (using .../wine1.3_$ Unpacking replacement wine1.3 ... Setting up wine1.3 (1.3.23-0ubuntu1~ppa1~maverick1) ... procps stop/waiting Setting up winetricks (0.0+20110629~ppa1) ... #end
Since this upgrade, CDex just crashes upon loading. I downloaded and reinstalled the newest version of CDex (CDex-win32-1.70-b4-2009) which worked until this upgrade, as recently as yesterday.
I would like to know how to roll back wine until this is addressed if possible.

--- Comment #1 from iconoclasthero@gmail.com 2011-07-07 12:10:20 CDT --- I rolled back to 1.3.22 and CDex appears to function properly.

--- Comment #3 from iconoclasthero@gmail.com 2011-07-07 12:33:35 CDT --- Yeah, no thanks... That seems like a lot more work than I want to get into rather than rolling back to 1.3.22 from 1.3.23. Since I've already done that, if it isn't fixed the next time Update Manager sneaks it by me, I'll consider the regression testing.

It starts up here. I can go through menus and exist successfully. As this is second time it "WORKS" i'm going to remove the REGRESSION keyword.
Try again in wine-1.3.24 and clean wine environment. If the problem persist, describe step by step, how to reproduce the problem for someone, who never worked with this program.
Tested and works under: * 1.3.23, 1.3.24

--- Comment #8 from iconoclasthero@gmail.com 2011-07-09 06:26:23 CDT --- How do I do a clean wine install? Move .wine to .wine_old and reinstall?

--- Comment #9 from Wylda wylda@volny.cz 2011-07-09 06:29:06 CDT ---
Just move/rename the .wine dir and run the installation of CDex. The new and clean .wine dir will be automaticaly created for you.

--- Comment #10 from iconoclasthero@gmail.com 2011-07-09 07:25:04 CDT --- Well that seemed to work... I updated back to 1.3.23 and ripped a disc. What do I do with the info in the old .wine directory (now .wine~)? I assume it has some importance?

If you do not miss anything, then you can delete the old one. It's the same like reinstaling a PC. Sometime you want to backup important documents and sometime you do not care and format immediatelly and install a fresh OS. Same thing with .wine dir, but faster ;)
Nothing was fixed in wine, marking INVALID.
