Summary: LifeScan OneTouch Diabetes Management Software does not install/run properly Product: Wine Version: 1.1.29 Platform: PC URL: http://www.lifescan.com/products/otdms/install/ OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: ole32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: andrej@podzimek.org
The installer copies all files successfully. However, database initialization fails at the end of the installation, spilling out lots of OLE errors.
The application does run, but reports a corrupted database and fails to operate normally. (That's not surprising.)
The errors reported by the application are (surprisingly, this time) very similar to thos that can occur on Windows and are mentioned in the FAQ here: http://www.onetouch.ca/english/faq_detail.asp?f_id=65
I tried to install native msado15.dll and oledb32.dll, but this didn't help at all.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-09-17 11:40:31 --- Try 'winetricks jet40 dcom98'

--- Comment #4 from Andrej Podzimek andrej@podzimek.org 2009-09-17 14:24:49 --- That's one of the first things I tried. (I wouldn't have filed a bug if this had worked.)

--- Comment #5 from Andrej Podzimek andrej@podzimek.org 2009-10-10 10:29:44 --- In 1.1.31, dcom98 and jet40 cause IKernel.exe to crash when the installer is extracting some files, before it gets to the very first dialog window.
When dcom98 and jet40 are not installed (using winetricks), it fails the same way as in previous versions.

--- Comment #6 from Andrej Podzimek andrej@podzimek.org 2010-02-06 11:03:50 --- 1.1.38 fails the usual way without jet40 and dcom98 winetricks.
With the winetricks installed, the installation of OneTouch DMS fails like this:
err:module:attach_process_dlls "rpcrt4.dll" failed to initialize, aborting err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\users\andrej\Temp\pft2a4d.tmp\Disk1\Setup.exe" failed, status c0000005

Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
