Summary: Crysis demo will not start Product: Wine Version: 0.9.48. Platform: PC URL: http://www.fileplanet.com/168866/160000/fileinfo/Crysis- Demo-(Singleplayer) OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: l_bratch@yahoo.co.uk
Guessing wine-directx-d3d as the component.
This is the demo of the game (different to any previous bugs about the beta, which still works).
It shows the initial "this is a demo" text, then stops. The process never actually closes, but top sees Crysis.exe as defunct.

The process doesn't end, it just stays like this presumably forever.

--- Comment #2 from Andras Kovacs andras@csevego.net 2007-10-27 09:15:51 --- Just disable sound or turn it to emulated. Then it will start.

--- Comment #3 from Chris Spencer spencercw@googlemail.com 2007-10-27 09:28:04 --- Yep, setting hardware accelaration to emulation and turning on driver emulation fixes this, but there is no sound in the videos.

--- Comment #4 from Luke Bratch l_bratch@yahoo.co.uk 2007-10-27 09:47:38 --- Yes that solves it to for me. Still a bug though I assume?

--- Comment #5 from Chris Spencer spencercw@googlemail.com 2007-10-27 09:50:49 --- I assume so as this is just a work around.
Luke, how does the actual game run for you? I get between 0-1 fps in the actual game which is pretty worthless.

--- Comment #6 from Luke Bratch l_bratch@yahoo.co.uk 2007-10-27 09:52:33 --- Ok, will leave the bug open.
Yes the actual game is unplayably slow, around 0-1 fps. I'd say open a new bug, but whatever d3d component is causing the slowdown may already be covered by another?

Both were ALSA. OSS also works with emulation on, and doesn't work with emulation off, just like ALSA.

--- Comment #11 from Luke Bratch l_bratch@yahoo.co.uk 2007-11-11 09:18:57 --- Perfect, that patch fixes it.
There's still no sound in the intro video (although for all I know there may not be any in Windows either), but that's probably best left for another bug.
