--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2010-08-10 07:57:27 --- The key lines of the log:
err:module:map_image Could not map section .extra, file probably truncated wine: Bad EXE format for Z:\mnt\sda4\installs\steamtmp\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\Binaries\Borderlands.exe
Looks like the .exe is funny, and our loader can't handle it.
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=6527;forum=1;ms... suggests that the game's .exe is now protected with securom.

--- Comment #3 from Floppie floppie@quadra-tec.net 2011-04-02 23:12:50 CDT --- Confirming that the current version of Borderlands on Steam with WINE 1.3.17 launches and plays with few issues, none of which ruin playability.

Do you run this on Ubuntu? I think im using an old version of Wine (1.2.2, ubuntu build) maybe i need to recompile to the newest version. Gonna try that tonight. Will post results regarding any problems. If not, that means i will be playing ^^.

Nope - I'm on Arch using a fully up to date WINE. I would advise (for this game's purposes) checking out the patch in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6971 to prevent the mouse from leaving the window. It hasn't really worked for me but other users have had a lot of luck with it, and I can say that trying to play a mouse-look FPS in an environment when the mouse can leave the window is more than slightly annoying.

--- Comment #6 from Jurgen jurgen@idea-creation.nl 2011-04-06 12:01:08 CDT --- I installed the latest WINE version (1.3.17) the ubuntu way. Borderlands seem to run now, i havent found anything on the mouse leaving the game, but if this applies to me i will surely post it in here.
