After choosing a slot for new game Chantelise from Steam writes "Now
Loading..." then shows some error messages like "error 5" and "a error 6 2" and
then crashes.
Chantelise Demo from http://www.carpefulgur.com/chantelise/downloads.htm starts
new game good (without sound but it's another bug)
p.s. How can i get good terminal output of Steam game for this bug? I think my
prefix with Steam is not clear enough, and in addition i get near the same
terminal outputs from Steam and Demo versions. And i am afraid that i can be
banned by Valve if i will reinstall Steam too many times.

I can reproduce the problem with the Gamersgate version as well (game version
1.16). The demo version (v1.1) is not affected. The game is showing several
weird error messages when I start a new game, then it crashes. The same crash
happens with Wine 1.2.3, 1.4.1 etc.

Yes, version from Steam is 1.16, so it seems bug is not Steam-related.

I have the same issue using Wine 1.6 and Chantelise 1.16 from Steam.

The EasyGameStation/Carpe Fulgur game Recettear used to give very similar error
messages on startup in Wine before an update silenced the messages. My
understanding is Recettear was built on the Chantelise engine.

This is rampant speculation, but Recettear suffers from a display bug in Wine
due to lack of VertexBlend support, which has led to crashes in some
situations. Could this be an effect of the same bug? (See bug #6955)

Can anybody else test the game under Windows?
I have the same error messages under WinXP in VirtualBox. Maybe the bug is
"invalid" ?

Still present in Wine 1.7.10
The patch from bug #6955 (attachment #46317) when applied on 1.7.10 fixes the
crash and the game could be started.
