Summary: Guild Wars: Directional character shadows are not rendered. Product: Wine Version: 0.9.51. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P4 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: hoppq@mbnet.fi
Under Wine, Guild Wars does not render directional shadows for characters (or renders them incorrectly so they are not seen at all, to the end user it's the same). In Guild Wars, drawing of shadows is controlled by "Shadow quality" setting in Graphics options, "Medium" should render a directional shadow for the player's character, "High" should render them for all nearby characters/NPCs.
As a side note: Cedega (version 6.0.3) does not render them either by default, but Cedega provides an option in its settings called "Fragment Offset" (the tooltip for it reads: "Apply fragment translation in vertex program"), setting it to "Tex" makes Cedega render shadows correctly.
This is on Nvidia driver version 1.0-9639, 7600GS card. In the past the behavior was the same on newer driver versions as well, I happen to run that version due to it being packaged by Mandriva and it's lacking the bugs of 100.x and newer series.
