Summary: DreamSeeker: Map Element causes slowdown. Product: Wine Version: 0.9.61. Platform: All URL: http://byond.com/download OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: chris062689@gmail.com
When a map is displayed on the skin, it causes general slow downs due to the DirectX rendering, when OpenGL rendering is used the application increases FPS quite a bit, but with the loss of various alpha blending, map stretching, etc.

--- Comment #1 from Chris chris062689@gmail.com 2008-07-11 23:17:23 --- I'm about to test a grahpical intense game, I didn't see any slowdowns in WINE 1.1.1 with a card game, I think this bug may have been fixed. Going to create another test environment now.

--- Comment #2 from Chris chris062689@gmail.com 2008-09-08 16:55:31 --- Still have this problem in WINE 1.1.4, when the screen is maximized the map doesn't stretch with it, and mouse clicks are really screwed up, disabling DirectX and switching to software mode fixes it, but we loose the ability to do Alpha Blending.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-03-10 14:55:47 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.16 or newer) wine? Please attach terminal output.

--- Comment #4 from Chris chris062689@gmail.com 2009-04-26 06:55:40 --- I remember someone saying on the forums that it was fixed. They provided a screenshot. http://dragonballshuurajou.com/screenshots/Screenshot2.png I'm not sure if there simply talking about the Alpha Transparency, or the actual Map Stretching not working.
When I tried it in 1.1.18, we still had this bug. I'm thinking between 1.1.4 and 1.1.18 it was fixed, and then broken again. I'll do some more digging into this when I have time.

--- Comment #6 from Danial Bulloch DBulloch@BluePCSolutions.com 2009-11-04 18:58:10 --- Run speed is greatly improved(from limited testing), but maps are still not properly fixed inside their boxes and as a result mouse targets do not match visual click points. So, for example, if there is a button on the bottom left point of the map, and that map is supposed to be centered, but is not(due to the bug), the clickable area for the button is still raised as if the map was correctly centered.

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-05-19 16:45:22 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 6 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.1.44 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #8 from Danial Bulloch DBulloch@BluePCSolutions.com 2010-05-19 22:06:32 --- BYOND does not run properly with 1.1.44. I have not had time to file a proper bug report, but because of that I have no clue if this bug still exists. However, last time it was known to function it was still an issue.

--- Comment #9 from Stephen Badger sb1105@ecs.soton.ac.uk 2010-10-17 13:09:20 CDT --- Just tried this out on 1.2.0 on Gentoo. It's difficult to say what the original bug was actually meant to be here. BYOND's DreamSeeker client does exhibit sluggishness in responding to user commands on Wine, however once the commands are accepted and sent to the server, the resulting graphical updates appear to be rendered correctly, and in good time.
Without any further input from the reporter though, I'm not sure you could really ever "fix" this issue. It may be worth considering making this bug "WORKSFORME". I've spoken to the reporter, he will re-test in a few days and post here with his findings.
