Summary: Crash on startup if an Hercules DJ Console Rmx is connected Product: Wine Version: 1.1.17 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: winmm&mci AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gimmeapill@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=20061) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20061) error
Wine fails to start if I have the following device connected (log file attached): http://www.hercules.com/uk/DJ-Music/bdd/p/62/dj-console-rmx/
This device requires drivers (GPL) for the midi part to work under Linux: http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&...
But the problem happens even if the drivers are not installed (then only the audio interface is functional). it also happens when using Jack, which makes me think that the controller part is the culprit...

--- Comment #9 from Leonard Ritter paniq@paniq.org 2009-11-08 12:04:51 --- I got the same bug, using 1.1.32.
My guess is that one of the registered drivers for the RMX confuses the wine driver enumeration. perhaps wine would start if it was possible to tell it to ignore certain cards while enumerating.
The error does not occur when the ALSA wine driver is disabled. I can use apps with only the JACK or OSS driver, but in this case there is no proper combination of working audio AND midi support on the device, so ALSA is the only choice right now.
...unless it is possible to use JACK in combination with MIDI somehow - also, more than output 2 channels must be possible in this case.

--- Comment #10 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-12-23 18:28:17 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.9 or newer) wine?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17816
--- Comment #11 from Gimmeapill gimmeapill@gmail.com 2010-12-28 09:44:23 CST --- The problem seems to be fixed as of 1.39 (I hadn't tested for a while): wine doesn't crash anymore, audio and midi work fine. So I guess this bug can be closed.
