chrome team tried reasonably-latest git (oct 1) and there were too many issues
to report.  but - they tried!

Not an appdb bug.

You're using ies4linux, which is going to cause a ton of problems that wine
can't support.

That said, there very well may be a valid bug. Can you try:
$ mv ~/.wine ~/.wine # make a clean start
$ wget kegel.com/wine/winetricks
$ sh winetricks ie6

and then install chromeframe?

Chromeframe is no longer supported, but still online. It fails to install
though, hits bug 30023.

Hello folks,

the original project has been abandoned:

Please don't link to bug reports in the URL field - link to the *download*.

Anyway, waste of time to investigate a defunct product unless you can provide
details of the actual problem that is not part of bug 30023 - also clearly
reproducible.
Reopen if you can do that.
