Bug ID: 57881 Summary: Wine10.2 Noble does not open Quicken 2004, qw.exe file Product: Wine Version: 10.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winelib Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: rs2crows@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Update manager updated wine to WINE 10.2 NOBLE. Normally to start quicken followed link to qw.exe file, did usual(right click) open with WINE - nothing happens. Attempted several times. Using timeshift went back to WINE 10.1 NOBLE, followed link to qw.exe file, opens Quicken 2004 as expected.
I'm guessing on the 'component' selected 'winelib'
System Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon version 6.2.9 Linux Kernel 6.8.0-54.56 Processor AMD Rysen 7 3700

this is in reply to Austin's request for terminal output. As seen in screenshot, I don't know how to replicate linux mint right click 'open with WINE' in a terminal window.

--- Comment #3 from steve51 rs2crows@gmail.com --- Created attachment 78109 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=78109 terminal output file of Quicken 2004 qw.exe file
okay figured out how to replicate 'open with wine' operation. This output is with WINE 10.1 NOBLE which successfully opens Quciken 2004. From viewing output file maybe the issue, seeing all the 'fixme' statements, is that WINE 10.2 just sees too may 'fixme' statements and hangs. FYI - WINE is loaded to where ever Linux Mint normally puts applications but I have put all the Quicken 2004 files on a separate drive /media/steve/Apps_9-24/Quicken hence the long terminal execution line...

Hi Austin, I don't know if you automatically get notified when I enter a comment to your question or not. But seeing it is entered as a comment maybe you are not notified so now I noticed that there is a reply option which this is.
I've supplied a terminal window output for WINE 10.1 NOBLE under comments. I'm guessing that maybe you would like to see the same for what happens under WINE 10.2 NOBLE so I'll post that soon. Thanks

Afterwards, try to get something meaningful from WINEDEBUG=typelib, perhaps it will clarify why/how that load fails...
BTW, that error seems to be 'file not found' and that screenshot seems to be showing it is indeed *not* there. So, any chance you've missed a file or two while moving things around ? Or perhaps something went wrong during installation ?
Oh, wait, we're talking about a regression...
During 10.2 cycle, there have been quite a few commits to oleaut32 (overwhelmingly from one author), so you might have found something interesting...
Get that log.

I don't seem to be doing the correct sequence of commenting/attaching so rewriting my comments... 1. updated download of WINE 10.2 - got error message - attached 2. used synaptic broken package filter to fix broken package(s) 3. checked update/download history... 4. checked Synaptic package status of wine-devel package - all seemed up to date 5. did usual start up of Quicken 2004 - follow link to executable file, right click to 'open with' WINE. Program started normally under WINE 10.2 6. Will change bug to 'RESOLVED' but will check if any fixme notes in terminal output file.
THANKS
