Summary: Wrong desktop color palette upon game exit Product: Wine Version: 1.1.23 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: wylda@volny.cz
Hi,
i don't know, if other games are affected by wrong desktop color palette upon game exit, but in Quake3, it's easily reproducible.
When running Quake3 without Punkbuster (pb dir renamed or removed), desktop colors are preserved when i quit the game (colors are exactly the same as before running Quake3).
When running Quake3 with pb dir, desktop colors are weird when i quit the game. Colors looks like if i setup gamma correction from 1.0 to 3.5 in desktop display setting.
No such problem in WinXP ;)
There is also one difference in console output. When running with pb dir(i.e. weird colors), there is extra console output:
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x146dae8,0x00000000), stub!

--- Comment #5 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2009-12-23 04:13:03 --- Probbaly a duplicate of the bug 10841: Wine doesn't always rstore an original video mode on the app exit.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2011-10-01 15:10:10 CDT --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 1 year. Is this still an issue in current (1.3.29 or newer) wine?

It is still valid. Without pb folder = OK. With the pb folder, on quake3 exit, gamma correction is increased and make my desktop hardly visible. Resolution is changed back correctly so probably not a dupe.

--- Comment #9 from volkerobhof@web.de 2012-08-13 15:35:18 CDT --- I can confirm this Bug with Ubuntu 12.04 and Wine 1.4.
But this bug also exists if you play it directly with Windows 7. There it's also too bright.
