Desktop is still overdrawn

The virtual desktop window is still overdrawn in vlc 0.8.6a
with DirectX selected as output-driver

When you "Pause" in vlc, the window is still overdrawn all the time
(the marker in the timeline is flickering)

System:
RADEON 9700 with fglrx 8.29.6 on Ubuntu Dapper (Xorg 7.0.0)
