Summary: GTA San Andreas: weird looking textures Product: Wine Version: 0.9.54. Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: suawek@interia.eu
GTA San Andreas loads very quick. First two movies works good, third doesn't even show because (as wine says) MPEG-1 is not yet supported. Movie shown before the first gameplay works very good, all textures are OK. When the gameplay starts, textures look like in the screenshots. The game runs slowly but it's possible to play if you have nerves made of stone :)
My OS: Ubuntu 7.10 Graphic card: ATI Radeon 9600 (newest drivers from ATI website installed correctly) Wine: 0.9.54

--- Comment #5 from Julian Rüger jr98@gmx.net 2008-04-10 17:54:17 --- If you start the game with "WINEDEBUG=-all wine gta_sa.exe" the speed, or better the responsiveness of mouse-looking should be much better. The flooding of the console causes lags in input message processing, I think.
Have you seen anything like the texture corruption in Bug 9461? It seems to be fixed now, though. Maybe this Bug is ATI-only, I was just wondering.

--- Comment #6 from suawek suawek@interia.eu 2008-04-18 05:36:21 --- I have just checked how GTA:SA runs in the newest version of Wine. I can comment it with only one word: tragedy. There are no textures on anything, menu is not present the same as all the cutscenes that should be seen after the game is started. I have had any problems with bug 9461 in the older version of Wine.

If it regressed in new wine, please run regression test.

--- Comment #8 from Julian Rüger jr98@gmx.net 2008-04-19 01:18:50 --- I just tested with selfcompiled 0.9.60 and San Andreas works almost perfectly. The performance is worse than windoze, I still see Bug 8642 and antialiasing is not supported, but no wrong textures, no model issues the engine works as it's supposed to. The cutscenes look like in windows, except in the part where the cop-car stops at the railway crossing, the train moves too slow, so the car drives through it ;)
I have a geforce 7900gtx, use glsl and have both shaders enabled. The game is smoothly playable at 1024x768x32, when started with WINEDEBUG=-all; otherwise mouse (camera movement) lags like hell.
I still tend to believe its because you have an ati card... Please check your config, drivers, etc. Do other games work correctly for you?
