Summary: Java Throws a NoClassDefFoundError when attempting to run Maple 11 Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: johannes.blaschke@gmail.com
The following error appears when attempting to run Maple 11 from the console:
Error occurred during initialization of VM java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
Sorry, no further info available; Maple is not Open source. Suspect though that the problem lies in the Maple launcher when it encounters java as it makes a visible attempt to start (and then disappears shortly after stating "loading").
Classic Maple which does not use Java works fine! This also uses the same launcher, so the non-clasic version of maple must crash at the point where the launcher attempts to run java.

I installed the offline (as I did not know how Wine would handle a network connection) windows version of java available from:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I could not find any bugs with the java install.
I have the Wine version available on the Ubuntu Package Manager (it says v1 there). I can't check the detailed version number as a crash just wrecked my linux partition...
I downloaded it today so it is recent.

$ wine --version will give you the exact Wine version. If it's not 1.1.2 - please upgrade.
