Bug ID: 44972 Summary: This error pops up immediately after clicking install on the RSI.exe Product: Wine Version: 3.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: salemn18@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 61095 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=61095 error log
I just installed the latest stable version of Ubuntu and WINE 3.0. I am attempting to Launch the game "Star Citizen".
Immediately after clicking install this error pops up and I do not know what it means.
I click show details and I get this log. (see attached)
I click close and the rest of the installation continues to the end and it says "RSI launcher has been installed on your computer click finish to close setup."
When I open the RSI launcher the GUI is smashed together and I cannot type in the input (user-name and password) sections.
I know that I am a noob when it comes to this subject but I am trying to help out a friend and I'm hoping somebody here is willing to help me out.
Please and Thank you.

ok, I see now.
Please avoid attaching misleading crash logs in future if they have nothing to do with the actual problem.

Im working with a new wine prefix every time. Installing corefonts is a must-have to make the launcher show up correct.

--- Comment #16 from Alexandre Viau alexandre@alexandreviau.net --- Hello!
The first part of the bug is the crash in the installer, which is a dupe of 39456.
Then, the second part of this bug is the disorted login dialog (what the title says). This is fixed by installing corefonts.
I have reproduced the disorted dialog on wine 3.18.
I have confirmed that the disorted dialog is fixed by installing corefonts on wine 3.18.
This bug should probably be closed.
Star Citizen should probably be marked as affected by 39456.
Cheers,

--- Comment #18 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
I'm resolving as dupe of bug 32342 (installing native 'Arial' font from corefonts is sufficient). Besides from distorted user interface, the launcher crashes when clicking official links in the login dialog which is another manifestation.

The launcher statically links to Webkit.
The first crash encountered when the main installer runs the DX runtime sub-installer is covered by bug 39456
There is no point in keeping this open.
