Bug ID: 38211 Summary: Skyrim: freezes on opening screen Product: Wine Version: 1.6.2 Hardware: x86 OS: Mac OS X Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: angeltroubler@gmail.com
Created attachment 51004 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51004 output for Program Error Details
When opening Skyrim through Steam, which is running through Wine, I get a Program Error saying "The program Setup.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." The details for this are attached below. If I close this window, the game opens the initial play window, but after clicking play, it shows the Bethesda logo and then freezes on the Skyrim logo. If I then switch applications and return, the Play/Load/Credits/Quit buttons show up, but are missing letters and don't appear to have loaded correctly. Clicking play or loading a save results in a complete freeze. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this? Thanks so much.

I ran Skyrim from mid Wine 2.x releases until Wine 3.3 and did not encounter this bug.

--- Comment #7 from Olivier F. R. Dierick o.dierick@piezo-forte.be --- Hello,
FIXED requires that a fix got checked and committed. It's not the case.
WORKSFORME is for bugs that someone actually tried to reproduce and couldn't, and/or the bug eventually fixed itself for the reporter with nobody knowing why.
Nobody bothered with the issue for a long time and no update from reporter is ABANDONED.
That's my understanding of those status labels. https://bugs.winehq.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_status
Regards.
