When attempting to start the GOG version of King's Bounty Crossworlds, I get a "Call Stack Functions" error after the intro videos.
Call stack functions: 0001:001741A3 c:\jeu\kb.exe 0001:0011278B c:\jeu\kb.exe
Wine 1.5.21 Gog version of King's Bounty Crossworlds Arch linux X64 nvidia 310-19
I have attached the backtrace. Using overrides (vcrun6sp6, 2005, 2008, d3dx9) did not solve the problem.

--- Comment #1 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2013-01-16 20:55:02 CST --- I can reproduce this. Could you try the following: under ../King's Bounty Crossworlds GOTY/data directory edit the file game.ini and add the following line to the end of that file: setf ~cl_menu3d 0

Fixing that line in game.ini in the main game directory and the user settings in My Games/King's Bounty Crossworlds addresses the issue indeed. Is it because KBC sets 3d mode enabled by default?

I haven't found much of anything on that particular option, it was introduced with KB:Crossworlds. Neither KB:The Legend nor KB:Armored Princess recognizes that option. If you have native Windows installed you should try the game with that option enabled to see what effect it has. Maybe some kind of animation is taking place in the menus (I don't have Windows installed so can't tell it for sure)

--- Comment #5 from Emanuele emanuele.emalele@gmail.com --- Hi,
I had the same behaviour until Wine 1.7.50.
After Wine 1.7.50 I passed onto 1.7.55 and the game starts perfectly with no overrides.
I tested KB The Legend GOG version, if someone could test The Armored Princess then this bug could be considered solved.

This bug is still present in wine-1.9.1-27-g0f67df6, tested with King's Bounty: Crossworlds from GOG.com. The game contains 4 campaigns/expansions, but only two of them are affected: Champion of the Arena and Defender of the Crown. When either of these campaigns is selected, the game crashes before the main menu with a 'Call stack functions' error message. Disabling the following game option in game.ini works around the crash:
setf ~cl_menu3d 1
(the option should be set to 'setf ~cl_menu3d 0')

--- Comment #7 from lior.inbar@sharecare.com --- hello, I've add the above line to game.ini and the games indeed launched successfully, but there is still a very annoying bug: When I travel along the game map, everything seems fine at the first few seconds, but then (always in the same parts of the map) the graphics are totally distorted and the image looks like this: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2iazrb8&s=9#.WCCtv-ErLGI

Hello,
I can't reproduce this kind of screen corruption on my end. Please open a bug report for the issue, attach terminal output and specify what OS and video card/driver you are using. My only problem with the game is that character models are only partially drawn. This occurs frequently but not always (the issue is covered in another bug report, related to Nvidia, I think).
The problem reported in this bug report is still present in wine-1.9.22-72-gf7187ec. Installing native d3dcompiler_43, d3dx9_41.dll doesn't help.

King's Bounty Crossworlds standard campaign worked fine, but when i tried to launch Defender of the Crown campaign, the game requested relaunch and crashed with Call stack functions error: EntryPoint+FFFFFFFFFFFFF. Now every time i try to launch the game, it crashes. Added setf ~cl_menu3d 0 line to game.ini and default.ini, but it didn't helped.
