--- Comment #4 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
please retest with more recent Wine, preferably Wine 1.7.55 or higher.
Unfortunately just telling "crashes after 10-15 seconds" is not precise enough (fast vs. slow computer, storage backend, ...).
"crashes before any graphics is shown/mode switched" (windowed mode) "crashes after intro video sequence <companyname> is shown" "crashes immediately after showing main menu" ...
Also provide terminal output (not only the backtrace which is kind of useless due to missing symbol information).
---
I found a distributed backup of the game and the game works fine for me.
The callstack from the backtrace partially matches the return addresses from my binary but unfortunately it didn't hit the code during the whole game: startup, intro videos, gameplay.

--- Comment #5 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com --- I don't remember ever bumping into this one, not since 2015 when I got the game (after it did not require 'Games for Windows - Live' any longer).
While I did notice some possibly new issues when testing just now, the game certainly starts and runs here currently.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38490
--- Comment #6 from Chiitoo escomk3@hotmail.com --- Of course I completely forgot the issues with the opening cinematics, or whenever the game wants to play videos. I still don't remember if the game actually crashed for me due to them, but that is what is mentioned over at the AppDB page for this title.
I also found quite a bit of 'winetrickses' in the prefix I use for Dark Souls, but I tried in a clean prefix just a while ago (using Wine Staging-2.4/Vanilla-2.5). It works, even the movie-like parts of it! (The audio seems to have some issues, cutting off at times, which requires more investigation.)
