After installation the screen to enter the serial which appears in windows is
missing. When started there is a pop-up screen that says: "the software has
been changed, please reinstall this application"

Yes, there is a trial version from corel painter x. The trial can be downloaded
at www.corel.com

the bug still exists in wine-version 1.0-rc3. 
But this time there don't come an pop-up when I'm trying to start the app. This
time the message is displayed in the console.

After I've installed via winetricks 'gdiplus' the Painter X window appears, but
freezes before all menus are loaded like in Painter IX.

I've attached the log-file from the console.

As of Wine git version 1.1.6-379 (using WinXP env) the bug as described no
longer exists in the full version of the program (the trial version still
complains about a "damaged" installation).  There is no complaint of "changed"
(damaged) software, and the serial number entry screen appears normally and
works.
