I understand that I should remove the 10.1 package before upgrading. But I had already upgraded, so I just clicked the OK button in Synaptics at random and it fixed it. When I start Synaptics, one of the two broken packages has an upgrade mark. I just clicked the Apply button and the corruption was fixed.
