I am using Word 2010 with Wine. After a document is opened there are often
extra space before German umlauts e.g. "für" becomes "f ür". This is really
annoying and makes Word unusable. A rollback on 1.4 seems to solve the problem.
I do use a native riched20 library.

That's interesting, could you name document formats you're using? Are these
visible spaces in document editor or just a wrong visual rendering?

P.S. native riched20 is not required for Word 2010 to do some basic tasks as
far as I tested it.

The format is docx. It seems that it is only a rendering issue. Since
LibreOffice shows no umlaut. In the file that I have attached there is a space
in first "f ür" in Word, but no space in LibreOffice.

There text in Word is rendered as "f ür für" but in LibreOffice it is "für für"

No. There is still some randomness. Sometimes there are spaces and sometimes
are not.

with msxml6 I can not even open the document. Problems with normal.dot and the
document itself. Once again, 1.4 seems not to have the mentioned issue.

I can't reproduce that, attached document opens fine with 'fur fur' in it with
umlauts, with no spaces in words.

To make sure please reinstall Office in clean wine prefix.

Could you please explain me what you mean

cause I'm still unable to reproduce.

Yes, I tried open/close about 10 times in a row (keeping Word running) and
there's no problem for me. Also you could try without native riched20 to see if
it helps.

built in riched20 does not help, did you try to close and open word in-between?
I fear, I can reinstall Word only tomorrow because of the KMS activation.

I can't reproduce this either; the file displays fine for me in 1.5.4, even
after opening multiple times, and without any overrides.

Hi! I wanted to post a new bug, but I found this one.

Wine 1.5.22, clean wineprefix, I'm geeting spaces at random before polish
letters  ąśżźćółńę in Word 2010.

Stasik did you manage to solve the issue somehow other than getting back to
1.4?

Another thing:

If I start winword together with a filename:

alias winword='wine /home/jk/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Microsoft\
Office/Office14/WINWORD.EXE'

winword some-word-doc.docx

Word adds spaces before polish characters.

If I close the file in word and open it again inside it (File->Open), then it
seems that the polish characters added spaces problem is not visible.

I tried this many time (more than 20x). With provided DOCX, than adding extra
Polish chars from comments above, running with DOCX as a parameter to
WINWORD.EXE, but each time this was displayed correctly.

Feel free to re-open, if the problem still occurs to you under wine-1.7.46 or
newer.
