Summary: Team Fortress 2 crashes when joining some servers. Product: Wine Version: 0.9.52. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-msxml AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: slavikg@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=9875) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9875) debug output
If a server has HTML code in the MOTD, TF2 crashes.
At the MOTD screen you get a black square where the MOTD is supposed to be and the continue button is unclickable.
NOTE: I am not sure which component this relates to, but I had to guess as bugzilla would not accept it otherwise.

Feel free to emai1 lucas_wine_bugs at koolma.com if you want more information. The dump appears to be approximately the same with wine 0.9.52 and 0.9.46.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2007-12-29 14:13:26 --- err:ntlm:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. err:ntlm:SECUR32_initNTLMSP Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.
See if installing winbind helps.

Tried, nothing. But I don't see how winbind can make a difference since joining servers with nonHTML MOTD is fine.

--- Comment #6 from Brandon rbrandonstewart@yahoo.com 2008-01-13 09:17:14 --- Based on workarounds for similar bugs, I believe the following will work around the bug for TF2 users. In any case, I've done it and haven't had issues since.
In the directory .wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/<account name>/team fortress 2/tf, create a file called motd_temp.html that's empty. Change it's owner to root and make it unreadable and unwriteable to anyone else.
Now when you connect to a server that has an HTML motd, it should just show a black box where the motd should be. But it won't crash.

--- Comment #9 from Vyacheslav Goltser slavikg@gmail.com 2008-01-14 16:58:37 --- well, I don't know if it's fixed, since the MOTD just comes up as a black box instead, but at least I can enjoy any TF2 server now. :)
