Summary: Skype 3.8: Crash at login Product: Wine Version: 0.9.58. Platform: PC URL: http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-beta OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: wine@konsoletek.com
Created an attachment (id=11811) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=11811) Skype 3.8 Crash on Win98 w/o dcom98
Skype 3.8 (beta) will launch, but crashes either during the login screen or directly after it. I tried with a clear .wine directory, under Windows 98, XP and 2008. Under 98 I tried with dcom98 and w/o, with no noticeable changes in results.

--- Comment #2 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-04-02 19:58:49 --- Interestingly enough, it doesn't crash until you click on the login screen. Just launching it is fine, but if you click on the menu to type your login/etc, crash.
Confirming in git.

I'd never heard of "powrprof" but I assumed that was a debug option, so I ran: env WINEPREFIX="/home/davis/.wine" env WINEDEBUG="+powrprof" wine "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
I attached the output from that run. If I ran this wrong, please let me know what I did wrong and I'll happily re-run it. Thanks.

--- Comment #6 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2009-11-05 13:18:53 --- I tried to verify if this bug was still a problem, but failed to reproduce the bug with skype downloaded from the URL in the bug report. I was able to login, got some errors after that, but it didn't crash.
Tested with wine-1.1.32-402-gde00535
Could someone verify this?

--- Comment #7 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2009-11-05 13:34:11 --- Ok, I found the Skype 3.8 installer, and that one still crashes at login indeed.

still in wine-1.3.19-235-g71fe9c9, though I now just get a segfault with no backtrace.

Development recommends to check the status on your bug every release or two and let to be known if the bug is still present. If not, mark it fixed. If you are no longer able to put effort to this ticket, you can abandon it.
Is this still an issue with 1.7.7 or higher ?
