--- Comment #27 from Mathias Weyland weyland@library.ethz.ch 2010-09-13 09:27:52 CDT --- OK we are in the process of upgrading to v20 and I gave it a try. It's even more painful than it was with wine 0.9x and v18.
I sort of got it:
1. Download winetricks 2. winetricks ie6 ie7 win98
ie6 alone does not crash the application, but always pops up some kind of "open or save?" dialog when the server sends embedded html files.
Switching to win98 fixes the installer issue mentioned by Luigi.
3. Run the v20 installer. 4. winetricks winxp vcrun6 comctl32 5. Get the MIT kerberos client and copy comerr32.dll, k5sprt32.dll and krb5_32.dll to the system32 directory. 6. Run Circ.exe or whatever module and enjoy.
Note that the order of the steps matters; for example, I was not able to install Internet Explorer *after* vcrun6. First impression is that the client works. I encountered one redrawing bug and the descriptions in the tree at the left side of the module has some kind of rendering issue, but that's good enough for me.
This was Lucid's wine-1.1.42, 32bit. Are there any plans to address this bug, after all? If so, please tell me what kind of logs and other information you need. I'm willing to try out any bleeding edge version of wine and do whatever is needed to improve the situation.
