Bug #: 33689 Summary: When attempting to install Adobe CS4, the setup initialization stage fails, wine crashes Product: Wine Version: 1.5.31 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: seann.giffin@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 44602 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44602 Adobe CS4 Backtrace
I was quite fond of my CS4 apps when I was on XP. Sadly, as the attached backtrace will show, I can't get them to install properly under WINE. I've tried on 1.3, 1.4, and now 1.5 (1.5.31).

Are you trying to run this from a Windows partition?

err:ole:COMPOBJ_DllList_Add couldn't load in-process dll L"C:\windows\system32\msxml6.dll"
Also, did you remove that dll/override it?
This bug is likely invalid, you should probably use the forum for help installing.

--- Comment #4 from Seann seann.giffin@gmail.com 2013-05-30 17:20:41 CDT --- This installer hasn't worked ever. I've run it from both NTFS and from EXT4 partitions, and MSXML6 doesn't have an override that works on x64 that I'm aware of. Or has something changed?

--- Comment #6 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2013-05-30 21:39:24 CDT --- The CS4 installer hasn't worked, ever, because of bug 18070. My first thought was to mark this as a duplicate, but your console output does look different from what's posted in that bug, so I didn't.
I, too, think this bug is probably invalid because of running from a Windows partition and the use of native dlls (the backtrace shows native jscript). However, even if you ran the installer properly in a pristine wineprefix it still wouldn't work because of bug 18070.

So.... This is an on-going issue with no light at the end of the tunnel?
Until bug 18070 is fixed, yes.
