Bug ID: 53992 Summary: Serious Sam 2: camera movement is wonky in Direct3D mode Product: Wine Version: 7.3 Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://archive.org/download/SeriousSam2NewDemo/Seriou s%20Sam%202%20-%20New%20Demo.exe OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: hverbeet@gmail.com Regression SHA1: a13fc3bb7e055562b8b9deae985c64c5c7861424 Distribution: ---
Created attachment 73577 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=73577 plain terminal output
The camera movement often jumps when I turn or look up/down with the mouse in the game. It feels like the game skips rendering some frames and this makes targeting difficult. This doesn't occur when using the OpenGL renderer or when using DXVK's d3d9.dll.
The problem appeared in Wine-7.3:
commit a13fc3bb7e055562b8b9deae985c64c5c7861424 Author: Henri Verbeet hverbeet@codeweavers.com Date: Fri Feb 11 19:42:02 2022 -0600
wined3d: Use the chunk allocator for GL vertex buffers.
With the previous commit camera movement is smooth.
Serious Sam 2 - New Demo.exe md5sum:1cd1aca3a854279a26483095d556c8bc
Still present in Wine-7.22.

--- Comment #1 from Zeb Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- Hmm, I can't reproduce this, but it may be specific to the NVidia binary driver; I only have AMD and Intel here...

--- Comment #2 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- I've recently replaced the video card with a more capable one (GTX 1660S) and since then I can't reproduce the problem in the game even if I underclock the card to the lowest limit. I tried 3 different Nvidia drivers with this card but the problem didn't occurred with any version: 470.161.03 (the same one that I used with the GT 730 card) 525.47.04 520.56.06
I'm abandoning this bug because I can't retest with the original vga card.
