Running Half Life in the Wine "virtual desktop" the game runs fine, but after
switching to the menu screen (by hitting Escape) and resuming the game the
field of view spins uncontrollably.  As far as I can tell my viewpoint is point
to the ground.

This has been an issue for a long time now.

This bug occurs in OpenGL mode (with an nVidia graphics driver), but not if the
Half Life video mode is set to Software.  Interestingly, Software mode exposes
another bug, #27528.

I can confirm this with wine-1.1.34, although it only happens when the game
resolution is same as my default screen resolution (1280x1024). If game is set
to run in 1024x768 mode, this doesn't happen anymore.
